I have put some (red ones) in my empty tank don't know if they have rooted or not though but I haven't fed them anything either  they begin with an l I think??

Is that an "I" or an "L"? Could it be Ludwigia or Lilacina?

Most, but not all, red plants are that bit more difficult to grow and require a bit more light as well as some extra nutrients - ferts, CO2 etc...

You might be lucky, though.

It was L my apologies

I don't know which they both sound familiar

They seem to be doing alright at the min......touch wood

Will just have to keep an eye on them i guess is it the red ones that require iron supplements?

Without knowing exactly what it is, it's a little harder to say, but, in general, red plants might need some special substrate or fertilizer to get the best from them. Usually, you'll find that a good aquatic soil supplement will contain all the right plant nutrients, including a form of iron.

In some places you might go to read about it, the jury is out on the extra iron for red plants anyway. Some will swear by it and others will maybe have never added it ever and still had great results!

well time will tell as all my concentration is now focused on getting this new tank running so I have somewhere for my kribs to grow :)

The way I keep plants these will be in the compost heap in a week haha
