Filter Choices

hi there i am new to the site as was wondering is a larger filter always better for cleaner water or will at some point the filter simply be too big for the tank.

here are the two filters i was thinking off

fluval 205 external canister filter
it says this is suitable for up to 200litre tanks

and the 1000L/H EXTERNAL AQUARIUM FILTER HW-302 ( i dont know if thats the actual name for it as its from a ebay store)
it says it is suitable for tanks up too 400litres

i only have a 100litre tank at the moment but will probably end up getting a bigger one at some point in the year so is it worth while buying the larger filter or will it simply be too big for my tank

any help would be greatly appreciated

The HW-302 is a sun sun filter, i have one and think for the money there great, some people have bad experince with them. I stress dont buy it from ebay get from All pond solutions they are a proper company and give good customer service in genral. The 05 fluval tend to leak from reports.

One last thing if you go for a sun sun get the 1400 one, once the media is the basket flow is reduced anyway and with them you get a spray bar that my only regret get the 1400 not 1000

are they a noisy filter? as my tank is in my bedroom it doesnt really bother me but my parents wont be too happy if they can hear it next door when they have gone to bed

usually you want to generally double-overfilter

Not noisey at all, then again mines in the front room so cant hear a thing over the TV and kids. I have gone in the front room at like 3am and all i can hear a humm. I cant see it bothering most people tbh will prob aid sleep
