Filling pond with tap water

Hi.A friend of mine reckons there is something on the market which looks like 3 canisters, added to the end of your hosepipe,which filters out all the potential harmfull chemicals before you top up the pond.
Has anyone else heard or seen this anywhere? .

could it be a reverse osmosis unit, these are usually attached to your plumbing and remove impurities, they can have 3 canisters or more

Never heard of anything like that george we just stick the hosepipe in and top it up.

We have a leak so we top it up every week.

I think our neighbours have one on their hose. It looks like a small box under the out spray. The water goes through there before coming out I think. I don't know much about it but I'll try and find out what that is, otherwise I haven't heard of it.
