I like to keep my tanks understocked, as for the brackish tank, I've heard that firgue 8's get to 5-6" and depending on types of gobies you want can range from 1.5"-7"...

Figures eights reaching 5-6"s?? not possible isit...

also would you say

1 fig eight and 2 gobys (under3.5"s) is overstocked in a 15g ?

EDIT:Spelling

Generally Fig8's reach 3-4", i have seen Ceylon Puffers marked as Fig's and these do reach 6-8".

Id say that would be overstocked.

Fig8 very active fish, most people would recommend 15Gall for the Puffer alone. In then end its up to you, but i think id rather have 15 gall for him then do manual cleaning etc, than push the bioload with the gobies ontop. Really depends on filtration i spose. If you are massively overfiltered then its up to you, if you want to try it or not.

I'd want to keep a figure 8 in something like a 20g long ideally, but if you're destined to keep it in a 15, Im sure a couple of bumblebee gobies wouldn't harm your bioload too much, just be sure that they get enough to eat.

i may not even be setting up a tank like this yet, i have a spare 15g and not sure what to do with it. the brackish tank is just one option of many and i only wanted to prove my point that fig eights dont get 6"s

i have 2 figure 8s,1 flounder,1 knight goby, and am having an eel shipped in from cameroon that are all in a 15 gal but they are growing still for my 33 gallon once i get my 55 malawi sorted.i will then be adding 3-5 orange chromids and maybe 1 more puffer.

so would you say 1 fig 8 and 2 knigh gobys would over stock a 15g?

I'd say so, Knight gobies can be territorial, and with BBG's you'd be taking a much lower risk than with knights.

lol can see what you mean- BBG's are ok but they would get on your nerves- they're so small! lol and quite fussy eaters I hear... Sorry I can't help with the tech Q's.

i would say its overstocked.i really only got 1 knight goby due to their bad attitude at breeding time.
