Fierce Betta!

I just thought Echo (one I bought on holiday in Yarmouth) was having a fit he was thrashing around in his tank at the top and then suddenly stopped! OMG just done a water change ..take the lid off and thought what has he got sticking out of his mouth, what has he eaten? Empty snail shell sinking to bottom of tank...Noticed empty shells in there before......self service dinner!!

I just found him a snail from another betta tank..opened his little flap..with the snail on my finger..put my finger just above the water line and he snatched it...sort of sucked the snail out and then watched the shell sink to the floor of his tank. I have got a lettuce leaf floating in my big tropical tank as I read somewhere that it will attract the snails and then you can get them out easily trouble is the plec and the angel are nibbling at it!

Mine love snails too and I know exactly what you mean about the thrashing around they do when trying to get the snail out of the shell, I thought they were having a fit at first
