just currently set up a 15 gallon with 3 z danios, wen should i start feeding them? they are like swimming all over the place like psycho, is this normal? and while 2 of them are swimming psycho, one just sit under the drift wood doing nothing, what is it doing? my tank is not cycled, about 2 days old but using a filter from a well established tank.

my other 15 gal is (2 blue ram 4cm each, 8 cardinals, 6 rummys, 1 pengiun tetra)... is it overstocked, i have a planted tank and good filteration..
and blue rams... they hide all the time and so do the cardinals when the light is on(light wattage 18w) have one floating plant but does nothing

thanks

I'd say the 15 gallon was a touch over stocked depending on the dimensions I wouldn't imagine you would have enough surface area to support the fish, however this is just a rough guide, if you buy a "NitrAte test and keep up frequent water changes you may well get away with it. .

Do you have any test kits for the cycling tank? If not I'd also buy an Ammonia and a nitrIte test kit. Unless there's something seriously wrong with your water quality like heavy metals or pH the danios should be fine and may just be their usual playful self - good move using the filter from an established tank. I'd give them some food each day, just enough that they eat it in about 3 mins, make sure to grind it up in your fingers quite fine for them :) Good Luck :)

thanks william :D i dont have nitrate test kits but i have amm and nitrite test kits becos they guy at the lfs said nitrate isnt that important.
how frequent are frequent water cahnges? ive had 8 cardinals for 4 days now, they look alright but i have never seen them eat before, they must be eating somthing to survive

my freind is cycling his 2 day old tank with 10 neons, 2 neon blue dwarf gouramis and 2 baby angels...... how long would they survive?

I reckon they'll start dying after about 7 days, he'll be lucky if any of the neons survive, is there no way you can stop this madness?

About 25% a week is the norm for water changes

well, he keeps saying they will be ok, and said hes gonna get 10 glowlights on wednesday 27th... its not a completely new tank, he had goldfish for about 3 weeks, but hes washed all the gravel and filter cartrige adn changed all the water but didnt wash the 2 plants in there. is it any difference to a complete new tank...?
