Few Pics Of My Tanks, Plus 1 New!

Well interesting is one word i would use for the tanks you have lol.
Congrats on cycling youre new tank many people dont lol. :good:
The wels you have needs to go back into the lake ASAP yes im sure he is doin fine but it doesnt belong in a tank these are not fish for aquaria also you may need to contact the environment agency on this as wels are on there to watch list as they are not native fish.
The goldfish need to be in a bigger tank and the pond fish (carp, tench and rudd) really need to be in a pond.
As you already know the tetras need to be in a heated tank a coldwater set up is not best for them in the long term.

Koi and carp thrive over here in british lakes and rivers just as well as over in france the only reason they arent bigger is due to how cold it is here even though in canada they are huge and im thinking canada isnt the warmest of places lol.
So when will youre wels be reintroduced ?

first of all, very unusual to say the least.

Second of all, youre a VERY VERY brave person.

But, I have to say, well done, and if it wasnt for you, the cat may not have lived. You have admitted he needs to go to a new home, and are in plans of doing this.

1 problem solved.

I did see goldfish, rudd and koi, but you are working on a new home for them too

2 problems solved.

with regards to the black phantom tetra, imo, if theyre happy now, leave them. fish ADJUST. if it wasn't going to work now, then you would have known and theyre still gooing strong. I would NOT move them as its unfair (just dont put them in the pond that could be TOO cold lol). They may be surviving so well as it isnt really a cold water tank, its technically a "room temperature tank"

3 problems solved

with regards to the new tank, i LOVE the layout, very cool, would be amazing if it stays that way  , but overall i like it.

What kind of fish do you like? tetras / livebearers / cichlids?

EDIT: I see you already covered most of my points (seem a little useless now lol)

As a keeper of bettas amongst oher things i can tell you if you keep bettas and guppies together it will get nasty very quickly

Bettas are solitary creatures and ideally belong in a heated and filtered 5gallon of their own.

now this is an ongoing dispute. People (including me) have kept bettas with guppies in a community tank with NO issues

its all up to the keeper at the end of the day

I'm just saying to be on the safe side it really is IMO and experience to keep bettas alone.

It depends on the personality of the fish of course but 8 times out of 10 something ends up dead when it comes to guppies
