Females Fighting

I have 4 female bettas, 3 of which will live together rather happily but the 4th attacks both male and females alike...

Is there any way of stoping this?

You shouldnt keep females with males unless your breeding them. There may be a chance that your female is a male plakat. Any chance of a pic?

What size tank are the females in? Its recommended to have *at least* 5 females to spread out the aggression. But if you keep less that that you NEED to have plenty of caves/places for them to hide.

There will always be agression amongst females, however not to the same extent as males.

yes, please seperate the males into their own tank. by "their own" i mean give them each their own tank, 1 male betta per tank. The girls can stay together but you need to add some more girls, or take out the one that's being highly aggressive. As stated before, the "she" could be a male plakat. I have had the probelm of overly aggressice girls until I added many more plants. How large is yout tank and how many fish in it? It's ok to have 6 girls in a 10 gallon but I wouldn't go smaller in gallons and I wouldn't add more fish to that size tank.

Hmm, she's got the same finnage as mine does. She's goregeous! I suppose just add more hiding spaces for the other girlies to retreat to as they said. I mean, they ARE reputed as Siamese Fighting Fish...

I had an especially agressive female in the 40 gallon tank with 4 other female bettas. There was plenty of space and lots of hiding spots, but she continually attacked the others. I moved her to her own 2.5 gallon tank to preserve the community peace.

plackat is athe short finned type, its easy to confuse them as females. i had an aggressive female that turned out to be male plakat.

yours looks just like my male wild type betta, only a differebnt colour

Depending on what other fish are in the tank, i would go out and get some more female bettas.

The finnage certainly looks to be that of a female.

But as said above, make plenty of hiding places for them, lots of plants and 3 more females to spread the aggression out and everyone *should* be ok.

Just keep an eye on them though, and if the agressive female starts to get too rough just separate her.

The tank is only 15g, I wouldn't suggest adding more bettas.

Remove the angry one and get her a tank of her own.

IMHO a 15g is big enough to house at least 6 female bettas. As long as there are no other fish in the tank though, except for maybe an algae eater.

The only ways to reduce the aggression between the females would be to do what has been said above.
Otherwise the 2 most dominate females will attack the weaker one and possibly kill her.
