Not as serious as it sounds, but she's nowhere to be seen since 1pm after feeding. (My hubby did the lunch feeding but he didn't remember if he saw it). For the whole day I thought she's hiding inside the castle but @1am during dinner feeding time she's still not out, so I suspected that must be something wrong. -_-

I turned over the castle, searched inside the log, and plants, nowhere! Then just when I was panicking phoning my friend, I found her! She's stuck inside the heater compartment in the Hagen Biofilter! For some reason she jumped in there and got stuck!

Luckily her fins are still up and moving :D We've thought of a few reason of her doing this:
1. Water not good? (nitrite stays at 4-5, altho with 0 ammonia, water temp @78F, GH 6, pH 7.2)
2. She wants somewhere to hide? bcoz perhaps she's pregnant?
3. We've seen the yellow male Swordfish tried bullying her yesterday so perhaps she wants to run away from him?

My question is: Is she really pregnant? coz when I chose her in the pet shop (around 3 weeks ago), the sales said she's pregnant!

I've seperated her into a breeding trap (in case she escapes again!). So here'r some pictures:

She may have been enjoying a swim in the faster current of the outflow and got carried away. I have had to shoo Danios out of the filter a couple times now, they looked like they were enjoying a good jacuzzi

some time fish like to clear their gills buy jumping out of the water. this is normally more often the case when they are new to a tank or there is an imbalance in the oxigen and carbon-di-oxide. i expect this is a one off as some fish are just mad and like to jump betas do this to freak out their owners sometimes so a repeated word of warning to you all to keep your tank hoods closed 8) where is the tutting/finger waving smiley when i need it?

sorry can't see pics but my swordtail pops out babies all the time if she isn't pregers now she soon will be. As long as the other tank mates are friendly they don't seem to bother the babies unless shes popping out loads and i just see the survivors.

Luckily my tank comes with a hood (Hagen Tropicarium 68) or I'd be crying the whole day yesterday!

I've freed her from the breeding trap coz she's really depressed and sad in there. Today, she doesn't swim as much as before, and I've noticed her fin on the tail got nipped (only a tiny bit tho) I heard there's a disease that'll cause fin rot, but how can I tell between rotting and nipping?

nipping will just be pieces of missing fin (retains healthy color). rot will generally start off as a white fuzz on the tip of a fin or tail and the it will turn brown as the fin rots away to nothing.
