Well, tonight I got my first female betta. Sorry for the poor quality of pics- I'm getting the new digital in a few months. Bare with me! Here she is:

She is BEAUTIFUL!

I never see bright red females in any lfs.

Ever think about breeding?

As a matter of fact, there was a gorgeous red CT male at the same place and the idea popped into my head. But I really don't have room for the 40/50 gallon tank I'd need to keep the bettas in before putting them in jars.

She's still pretty young though. She looks 2-3 months I think... she was the smallest female in the tank. She's 1.5" from head to tail.

Those pictures don't do her justice at all, but they're the best I could do with my poor photography skills and ancient digital

so ya finally went to mr pets... u saw that male too... he was pretty nice looking too... i considered it...but $9 told me no.. i have too many males anyways ...

female is almost same as mine.. does yours have some purple in its fins?

Nope, no purple in her fins. She was quite a pale red until she got settled into her new home. I guess she was just stressed, because now she's extremely bright. She's working on a bubble nest now, because my male won't build one (he doesn't like the filter running).

I have to sya I have never seen one like her before. A truly gorgeous girl you have there. She really would make amazing babies her red is so concentrated. It reminds me of my male, he is that red also. Anyhow enjoy your newest addition she is well worth having
