Hey you guys what about this question -

This has nothing to do with the females but can a male be in a tank with a filter? A disposable one? They dont have alot of current I dont think. It would be for a 2 gallon tank maybe even a 1 gal if thats possible!

Yes, they can be in a tank with a filter as long as the current doesn't throw them around too much. I have one of mine with a filter since he has a snail in with him, and I use a gang valve (they carry them at LFS) to keep the current pretty slow. He loves to play in the bubbles.

Hi,
What exactly is a "gang" valve?

Also would a desposible filter be ok to use? Because I dont know if they make a normal filter small enough to fit in my tiny 2 gal / 1 gal tank...

Thanks

A gang valve attaches to your air hose coming out of the air pump. Then another piece of air hose attaches to the other side of the valve and goes into your tank and attaches to an air stone. The valve is kind of like a faucet and has a little handle/lever on it that allows you to increase or decrease the air flow before it gets into the tank.

I got a small Penn-Plax corner filter for Batista's tank (2 1/2 gal) for about $5.00 that holds disposable filter cartridges. He loves laying on the top of it and letting the bubbles hit him in the butt. I'm not sure what you mean by a disposable filter. Guess I haven't seen those around.

Ok so I can just ask at the lfs for a gang valve.. I would assume they have one. And this just goes on a normal filter?

The disposable filter is made by "natures playland" All is says on the package is 'replacement filtration unit' I have the part that it goes into.. I dont really know how to explain it. It also says for best results to replace every 2-3 weeks...

Does anyone know what im talking about? I swear im not crazy!

Here's my girly tank in its current status.

There will be tons more plants in there before I'm all done.

Each time you add more girls, you'll want to remove everyone and rearrange. That way territories will be established all over again, and if a new one decides to claim a new area, then they just duke it out and eventually one of them wins.

I have the piece of sponge stuck into the intake tube where the slots are. It works like a charm. Every once in a while I just take the old piece out and stick a new one in. That also helps control the flow, although some of the girls like to go slip-'n-sliding once in a while in there and make rounds to go back into the current and get blown around. I can hear a little "Weeeeeeeeeee!" coming from the tank every now and then.

thanks.
nevermind all the scum and junk around the top. heh heh

If only the girls behaved themselves it would be the perfect little tank :)

Ok so I just got back from the lfs and they recommended "aqua clear quick filter for powerheads" It goes over top of the thing thats in the water attached to the filter - The thing that sucks things up...
Has anyone used this before? And with what results?
Thanks! :)

oh and bettamom I have that same ordinament in my Hazelings tank :) I guess we have good taste :hey:

Ok so my filter didnt have enough power to suck the water up so im going to return it. I think it would of been a good idea though.

I have turned the filter down and shes having no problems swimming now so im going to try this method and if that dosent work I will use the sock method :)
