Feeling A Bit Disheartened...

Oh, I feel so sorry for you, it's horrible when that happens.

I had something similar happen this autumn, again with fish from a pet shop (coolie loaches). I lost 4 coolie loaches, 10 furcatus and all my platies. My one consolation is that the fish that survived (including a single coolie) must be super-fit.

Like the others said, medicating healthy-looking fish is a bad idea. That's how you get resistant bacteria.

If you are looking for healthier livebearers and have spare tank space in a non-infected tank- can I just point out that there is a livebearer auction at Corby this coming Sunday; there should be some good stuff there. I'm hoping to pick up some nice endlers.

I'm sorry for your loss Tokis. :-( i just lost both my angels to pretty much the same thing. the bloating, the scales and the balance...2 days

Try not to get too discouraged :)

Ah i'm afraid the Corby livebearer show is gonna be too far away from me for me to be able to visit, if you do get any nice livebearers be sure to post pics of them though if you can, i've heard they sell some absolutely gorgeous livebearers at the show :good: .
Thanks for the support too :good: .

Thanks Tobigara :good: , i'm sorry for your losses too, its crazy how quickly this bacterial disease can kill fish.

i also lost a fully stocked tank to a internal disease. The medicine seemed to do nothing, and almostly daily i lost fish. I was so disheartened when my catfish had died, i grew him up from a tiny baby, and he was almost 6 inches long, i was so impressed and just about to upgrade the tank for him. They all died eventually, so i cleaned it out and left it for a while, then re started again... with our new tank we are getting this week, i defiantly will not be introducing any fish into it without at least a 3 week quarintine, as i have had fish that have been fine for the first 2 weeks, and on the 3rd week start showing symptoms of illness.

You defaintly learn from your mistakes, painfully though.

I hope you manage to get your tank up and running again with healthy livestock.

Goodluck!
