Hi their again fishlovers :D

Just put my first two clowns into my tank today they are the first marine fish i have kept after keepin tropical freshwater etc?

question being how much should i feed them i have bought some brine shrimp from my lfs. it is in cubes about 1 inch square would one of these be too much for two small clowns

Thanks craig

many people feed once a day but i personaly feed my fish 3 times a da, mornig cyclo-peeze and flake, in the afternoon they have cyclo-peeze and brine shrimp and at night they have one last cyclo-peeze and some more flake this may sound alot but i dont throw loads of food in at once so it kind of evens itself out over the day. :)

LIttle and often is the key.. take what you would normally feed in 1 serving and spread this out oveer the entire day.

You will need to supliment your food if you just use brineshrimp. Unfortunately it has almost no nutritional value and fish have been known to starve to death even whilst feeding with brine shrimp.

Whilst its nutritionally poor, it does seem to work very well for getting difficult fish to feed so i would not rule out using it totally.

clown fish are easy to feed i give mine what he is willng to take from my fingers this way nothing goes to the bottom

i feed my clowns a mix of Mysis and Brine shrimp. The brine is to fill the tummy and the mysis is to keep the nutritional values going as well as keep the color bright. about once a week i feed them flake plant matter as well. they love it. as for stuff falling to the bottom, thats why we have cleaner crews! buy a few nassarius snails and they will take care of all the matter on the floor. helping keep nitrates low. clowns are wonderful little fishy and they have a great personality to boot!

My shrimp dont allow flake food to hit the bottom... The peppermint and blood red are crazy about flake food!!! So I dont worry all too much about what hits the bottom. Even if some do... I always notice that its policed up pretty good within an hour by crabs, shrimp and fish.

I feed mine small amount through-out the day, usual consistance of a frozen mix that includes:- mysis, krill, sand eel (these are changed alternately each day), a block of frozen mix, and a cockle, and abit of mussle, mixed with some tank water in a tumbler, then add abit of cyclopeze. This is fed in small amounts through-out the day (usually 6+ servings).
Then for the corals i have a mix of mysis, marine snow and abit more cyclopeze than the fish get, not alot more though, and every other day i add a fine mix frozen tablet aswell, this is stirred up well with tank water, and left to settle for a min or two, then i get juices from other tumbler from the cockle and krill added to it, the water is then put into a baster and squirted over the sun coral to get it out, then the mix is stirred well again and put all into the baster, and the corals and anenomes are all directley fed, the nems are fed twice a week.
Sounds like a complete ball ache, but it doesnt take long. Ive never fed any flake or tablet food, only frozen, except cyclopeze :flex:
