I feed my fish (2 platies/1 molly) 2x a day, and I give them just 6 or 7 flakes, ground up. They eat all that is on the top in about 45 seconds, the third that they don't floats to the bottom and they eat it through the day. Is this enough? every time I come into the room where the tank is, they rush up to the top  for food? Should I give them more. or is that enough?
also, I have my bubbler just hanging in the tank, the line runs behind the filter so it's not moving around, but I read you should stick it in the gravel? Does it matter? I've had the tank w/ fish for 2 weeks now, the nitrite has increased a little, but the ammonia and nitrate haven't, nor has the ph.....will it take much longer? I don't want to be gone when the ammonia & nitrate spike, since I'll be leaving for a couple days in a 2 weeks....... :(

That sounds like enough food to me. Remember they are animals and constntly want to eat......whether it is good for them or not.

Second....IMO I don't think your bubbler needs to be in the gravel, it's mainly for looks and surface agitation anyway.

Third a couple of small water changes should help with those pesky nitrites!

Good Luck!

Don't feel bad that you don't feed them when they beg. Most fish (Esspecially mollies) beg whenever they see you come into teh room. My mollies think that they could eat a whole container of food a day. But over feeding can cause spikes or you fish to be constiapted. You are feeding sufficiantly, even though teh fish may not think teh same. Good Luck,
Ron

Yes and never give in to there begging :D my female fighters are exactly like mollies :D
