Hi guys and gals
I just wondered if someone could give me a bit of advice on how much/often to feed my Zebra danios. They seem constantly hungry but someone told me they only need to be fed once every 2 days. At the moment there are only the 6 of them in the tank and i'm feeding them Nutrafin complete flake food.
Thanks!!

hi widgetgirl
first, ZDs are egglayers and belong in the cyprinids forum. perhaps a kind mod will move this topic for you.

second, a good feeding regime is once a day and enough food that it is gone with in 5 mins.

third, do you feed them just the flake food?
although the flakes will give them all the nutrients they need, is it good to have variety in their diet. try them on live/frozen foods like bloodworm, daphnia, baby brine shrimp, glassworms etc.

Sorry!! You know how it is when you're engrossed in reading a certain topic \and you suddenly think 'oh, yeah, just remembered i was going to ask a question'!! Sorry for putting it in the wrong place!

Thanks for your reply, I will try what you've suggested as they do seem hungry little critters :)

what I'm saying is if there is still food in the tank after 5 mins you have fed too much. if it is gone in 1min then that is good too.

Thank you
it is always good to have feedback

Excuse me butting in, I have a related question, is it normal for Zebra Danios to come down for algae wafers & tablets? As a couple of mine do it was an occasional thing at first but now it is pretty routine. I feed them flake food twice daily, which they gulp down & live, or frozen food a couple of times a week.

yes it is. danios will take food primarily from the top, but they will feed from the bottom
when it is available, particularly catfish pellets and wafers.
