OK, I'm going away for 2 weeks soon, so just wanted some advice about feeding. I can get someone to go and feed them no problem, but its how much and how often I'm not too sure about.

I have a 60L tank, with 6 Neon and 6 Glowlight Tetra. I normally feed them on a variety of flake, fresh pea, dried bloodworm, and frozen daphnia, with 1 or 2 fasting days each week.

Whats the best way to feed them, a small amount every few days, or a big amount less often. Obviously, as they're only Tetra's they dont eat much in one go as they are so small, so I'm wary of giving too much in one feed. But if I leave them a normal feed (I'll be leaving a portion of food out ready, so I can control how much they are given!) amount - like how much they can eat in a minute or so, like a normal feed, how long would that keep them going??

Any advice will be appreciated, I don't want my fishies to starve, but I dont wanna overfeed them either!!

Dont panic too much on this score, Your fish will live for a good length of time with no feed at all.
As you have a frend/neighbour/relative who is willing to feed you fish while your away then keep it simple
One small feed per day with just the staple flake nothing else.
Then when you return you can resume your normal feeding regime.

A good idea might be to pre-prepare any food that your friends/neighbours/family will be feeding, have them in little containers and label the days you want it feeding to your fish and explain to ONLY feed what you have asked them to.

i second shroobs suggestion. but really, healthy fishes would go pass two weeks without food so you don't have to worry so much.

Cool, thanks for the info guys :good:

It's my Dad that will be coming to feed them, but its a bit much for him to be coming over every day, would it be ok to give a small feed every 3 or 4 days?

They should be able to last a while with no food anyway, I would just rather be safe than sorry and make sure they have at least a bit of food to keep them going.

A small feeding every 3-4 days will be fine, fish in the wild live on the edge of starvation.
