I currently feed my fishies just regular tropical flake food once a day and one algae wafer a day for the plec and corys broken in half,

my question is this - is that enough and if not what else and how often should i be feeding them? (they get fed before bed so the clown plec can eat while its dark)

:good:

ooh also, is it ok to have an internal filter completely submerged so the spray bar is under the surface?

Sounds good. You could spruce up things by giving them a treat once a week, things like bloodworm or daphnia. You get those frozen, live, dried or in pellet form and your fish will love it. They would also love vegetables, such as peas, courgettes or cucumbers.

Which algae wafers are you using? The big ones (getting near £ coin size) or small ones? If it's a big one then I'm sure it's enough.

You can have your filter fully submerged as long as the outlet is still rippling the water surface.

big round things, maybe slightly less than a 20p :)

cool i thought maybe bloodworm.. might go get some :good:

yeah filter is fully submerged aiming upwards so the water is rippling quite a lot and creating quite a nice surface current for the platy and lyretails :)

means i can hae it so i cant see the water line too :D

Just thought i'd be cheeky and add a question i have of my own - I have 1 molly and 2 cherry barbs in my little 35L tank (I am going to get a few more fish though), just curious as to how OFTEN i should be feeding them? should i be feeding flakes every day or every other day?

(also give frozen bloodworm maybe twice a month as a treat)

a couple of times before when i've tested the water i have noticed a slight rise in ammonia the day/day after they've been fed, but it doesn't always happen??
