ok i know feeder fish carry parasites disease etc. but im not sure if shrimp can carry parasites, maybe they can carry parasite eggs but i dont think parasites. and the ghost shrimp would only be a snack for the oscars. is there anything wrong with feeding oscars ghost shrimp? a friend of mine used to all the time. i never see on any forum of sites saying anything good OR bad about ghost shrimp as feeders. anybody with some input on this would be useful

I feed my oscar river shrimp (ghost shrimp), i buy them from maidenhead aquatics 10 for £1 which is not bad, he really likes them, and its fun watching him chasing the shrimp around the tank

I would get them from any rivers as they may be carrying diseases and parasites as you said, im sure that if your fish store doesnt sell them then they would happily order them for you :good:

Wish I had a shop that sells feeder shrimp near me, but I dont.

Thats why I have started trying to breed red cherry shimp, so far its not been that productive really.

i breed red cherry shrimp, i have a 10g with only javamoss, i mean ALOTA javamoss and they breed like crazy in there. but thats...too expensive of a snack for my oscars. but ghost shrimp the fish stores do sell i think they're a dozen for a dollar.

In the UK we dont have feeder shrimp (well I've heard of one place, I think it was maidenhead somewhere, that sells 10 ghosts for £1, so thats like 20 cents each to americans.) So really the only way is to try and breed your own.
