Okay folks I got a shark and i forget what kind he is. He is grey/silver with black fins and he is a community shark he isnt aggressive or anything like that. I forget how big he can grow i think 6-8 inches. one of those two lengths. I dont think he likes the typical flake food my lifebearers eat. Can anyone tell me what type of shark i have and what i should be feeding him? any other hints would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! :D

Hi, you've got a Bala/Silver Shark.

I've got one myself, and it'll eat most things I put into the tank. In particular, I've noticed it loves granulated foods, and will choose these over flakes.

It'll also pick lightly at your plants, if you have any, without damaging them. Most probably picking at the light sprinkling of algae I've got.

Hope this helps. :)

Almost forgot, Bala's can grow far larger than the sizes you've stated. Some sites, I've seen, said they can grow to around 12".

hope your tank is big enough for atleast 3 bala sharks cause they like to be in groups.... I think they would eat anything you feed them and when they get big, they might snack on your little fish in the tank....

Gonna be getting a 40g, once I find a little more space. One, but maybe two more. Anyone know anything about sexing them?

Hey there

I think you are gonna need to get a bigger tank to keep bala sharks, you don't wanna stunk his growth or anything. bala sharks get quite big and like company, so go ahead, spoil ur self and ur fish and get him a bigger home, you know u want to

Yes Balas Love almost anything you throw into the tank...Mine LOVE Baby Shrimp and Frozen Blood Worms...I feed them shrimp pellets along side some flake food. But I feed them more of the Higher protien food ;) Sich as tubfix worms, Frozen Food and Alot of Veges. :)

I got 2 Balas in My 55g....There going to go into the 125 gallon Bala/anglefish tank when winter arrives! (The tank is going to be Balas and Angels and thats it!...so they grow big and healthy!!!! :D :D )

Yours should be fine for now.....But would get him/her a bigger home in a few months, Dont rush your self Balas grow slowly so..you have about 3 or so months.....unless he is already 6+inches then I would get him a bigger tank ASAP! So he can grow bigger :D
