Hello, I've been wanting to feed my fish live foods. I did I little research on growing brine shrimp and somehow I ended up at the
"Sea Monkey" web site
Are Sea Monkeys the same thing as Brine Shrimp? If they are, buyng the kit seems like the easiest way to grow these shrimp. If I do raise the "Sea Monkeys" would they be safe to feed to my fish?

i've had sea monkeys before, and i think you would have more fun if you bought them and just raised them to adulthood. they're quite entertaining to watch.

That's ok, I don't plan to feed them shrimp every day. They are guaranteed to grow in 2 days I think. The container I've seen isn't that small, they have different sizes. So what is the proper way of feeding brine shrimp to my fish?

I have always wondered what those little Sea Monkey things were too :*)
I learn something new everyday!

Ok I got a new question, I went to the store and ended up buying frozen brine shrimp. :D Then I came home and while I was in my back yard I bumped into my garbage can filled with water and thousands of mosquito larvae, is this a good source of live food for my fish?

I put like 2-3 in my aquarium and they were gone in seconds, but I don't know if they are safe to feed?

Sorry, I should've told you before...
There's no garbage in the can, and it hasn't been used in a while and it was cleaned before being put in the back yard, the water isn't dirty.

Mosquitoe larvae are a good source of nutrition, but they may not be safe if they've come out of the garbage can  I personally wouldn't use them from there, but it's up to you.

Oooops, I justed wasted like 50 gallons of water. I washed one of the cans and filled it with water from the hose and put an apple in it. I'm not crazy ok, I got this idea from a web site. It said "any container that will hold water"! :dunno:

lol you know, i dont' think feeding fish mosquito larvae would be a bad idea as long it's not grown out in your backyard in the wild (could pick up germs and what not). It'll porbably be safe if you built it in your kitchn in a little container ors omething...but i'm curious as to how a rotten apple with water can miraclously create creatures  where do the eggs or wahtever come from?

The mosquitoes naturally go to sources of water to breed, and are attracted to the sugars in the apple. The larvae hatch in the water. I think

Thank you cutechic, I think people were starting to think I was going crazy :fun:
Seriously, no one here has ever raised and fed mosquito larvae for their fish? I thought someone here would know whether it's safe or not to feed them to fish because I've read many articles on the internet about feeding mosquito larvae.

i guess i just dont' like the idea of having tons of mosquito larvae in my houselol. my mom would go crazy and kill me anyways
