Hi guys

My latest additions to the tank are a pair of kribensis (male/female) and a golden nugget pleco. The kribensis are juvenile and quite shy, and the pleco normally spends his time amongst the plants.

My question is when I feed them I put a few flakes, a few sinking pellets and a few algae wafers. All the other fish seem to go after all of these foods but I dont see the kribs or the nugget eating.

Is there a way/tip to make sure all of them get a bit of food?

Thank you :)

feed when the lights are out and the shy fish can venture out for food. dont just turn the lights out to feed them though, do it before you go to bed, same time every night.

if they are only recent additions, it may take them a few days to adjust and understand when they need to 'compete' for food. However, it will also depend on the tank mates......if you've got large aggressive fish in there with them, they may never have the courage to come to the food.

Specifically for the plec, Tizer's tip is a good one. Plecs often feed after lights out anyway so adding algae wafers after dark would be the best bet. Read up on what gold nuggest eat, they may need a more varied diet than just wafers (I'm not familiar with their dietary needs).

I always stick either couple of wafers or catfish pellets in the tank just before I go to bed for my synodontis cats. Also put a slice of weighted down courgette in there. always a big hole in the middle the next day so something is eating it! they don't seem to be losing weight so must be finding it. They don't seem to have great eyesight so even when bits of cichlid pellet float past them they don't react, I assume they scavenge with their barbels after lights out.

Thanks for your help guys. Their tank mates are clown loach, gourami, and some bleeding heart tetra. All are peaceful but faster at the moment. I think I will feed them flake food with the lights on as normal, and then put the algae wafer and sinking pellets in before lights off.

try some Novo tabs, they stick to the glass....i use them nearly every night
