Feeding During 7 Days Vacations?

For a Betta in a 5 gallons tank with plants, is vacation food the best alternate for a 7 days holiday? Any other suggestions?

if its only 7 days and you betta is healthy i would not feed anything. he should be fine untill you get back, just make sure his water is clean before you go.

bettas can go longer than 7 days easy, as long as there healthy. but 7 days is along time to go if the water gets bad and no one is there to change it.

Either that, or if you have someone come in to feed them, you should get one of those daily pill things, and put in the amount of food per day. I would not recommend leaving them to their own devices when feeding (lettign them choose whow much to give). Even not letting my mother choose, i told her before i left how much my fish should get, i showed er, she acknowledged that she understood, i came home to food all in the filters, in the bottoms, and spent that night boiling gravel and scrubbing tanks. Not so nice to come home from vacation to have to do that.

u could buy a feeding triangle or square, they last for about 7 days

You dont want one of those feeding blocks. They provide absolutely no nutrition or food at all. They just rot in your tank and make the conditions worse. Just make sure he/she is a healthy chappy and that the water is changed before you go

I just make sure my tanks are clean and I give them some real weed....I even cut down on the feeding a week or 10 days before so they just think am getting forgetful in my old age!

ha ha they will eat that in one go and then have really big tummies.. unless they are really good and can only eat one or two a day.

Thanks buddies for the info. Liz2 has suggested giving them 'real weed'. Which plant is this?

I have left mine for a week and they were fine if rather happy to see me and the food container when I got back

You could try putting some life daphnia in there, if he doesn't scoff it all up in one sitting then they will live for a while and hopefully reproduce giving him a constant snack

Get a fish sitter and clean the tank before you go.
