Right i got my Dwarf Puffer yesterday and now need some tips and help on how to feed it.

I have frozen bloodworm ready for the DP so just want to know the best way and how to feed it as i cant seem to find much information.

Do i have to let the Bloodworm 'defrost' before i place it in the tank? Do i just drop it in the tank like normal food or should i get a dish to place it in?

Any tips or help would be great.

Thanks
Darren

I defrost the bloodworms in some tank water or dechlorinated water first and then use a plastic dropper/pipette (like the ones you get in test kits) to feed them one worm at a time. It's very entertaining watching them  Also, try to pick smaller size bloodworms. Big ones tend to get stuck half in and half out their mouths.

Thanks for the information. Id like to feed it tongiht as it hasnt been fed since i got it yesterday and i want to get it feeding as soon as i can really.

Would it be ok to put some straight in the tank or is this just asking for trouble?

Thanks again!

I defrosted my bloodworm too. They looked like they had little snorkels in when they ate them but polished them off in no time. Also try mussels, mine went mad for them when I put them in the tank!

Yes, they will still pick them up from the bottom. I just like pipette feeding them. Don't put too many worms in though. You don't want left overs on the bottom of your tank.

Thanks wont do :) Ive heard they can breed like wildfire if just left at the bottom of the tank :)

How long should i leave them defrosting?

Thanks.

It only takes about 10 minutes as long as the water is not too cold.

Excellent. Guess mine are ready. One last question (i promise lol) with the left overs shall i just throw them in the bin, would this be ok?

Thanks for your help.

Are we talking a cube of frozen bloodworm??? Do you have any other fish you can feed to?? I only defrost one day's feed for my fish. The longest I keep the defrosted worms in the fridge is from mid-morning to about 8 or 9 pm. My DPs are fussy. They don't eat anything looking not fresh

If you only have one DP, then you might want to chop the cube into quarters and only defrost a quarter at a time.

I only took a small chunk off and seem to have quite alot of worms in the cube. (Yes we are talking frozen cube bloodworm. No where around here sells live food).

Il feed it to my tetra's and Shimps in my tropical tank then i guess :)

Thank you for your assistance!

Shrimps love bloodworms

Anyway, have fun with the DP.

I love feeding mine bloodworm. I dont know about everyone else, but mine goes up to it, grabs the end, and sucks it up like a bit of spaghetti, its hilarious

Be careful though, they can choke sometimes.

I couldn't agree more

They get so hilaroiusly excited when they see you walking near their tank. This makes the feeding experience so much more enjoyable.

Well tried to offer my DP some bloodworm last night and didnt take them :(

What instruments do you guys use to feed. I put a worm in on the spoon and wasnt intrested. Want to make sure i get to feed them correctly so the poor thing dont starve to death.
