Don't put your bettas on bloodworms only. :) It'll cause malnutrition and constipation, and could lead to SBD.
Bettas like variety - I know mine love Hikari Bio Gold pellets. :)

Yeah, I agree, bloodworms should only be given as a treat. Feeding pellets or flakes as the main diet and adding bloodwroms and/or brine shrimp would be better.

Is there a specific brand of flakes i should buy? And how many times a day should i feed him?

I use TetraBetta flakes for mine and feed them once a day. They have bloodworm/brine shrimp/daphnia once or twice a week and I have one day a week when I don't feed them at all.

I have the same feeding schedual as Stang, I feed mine flakes and/or pellets once a day- about 5 flakes or 5-7 pellets, or 2 flakes and 3 pellets. I feed mine Tetramin Tropical Flakes, BettaPlus betta flakes, and Wardley Betta Pellets. The BettaPlus Betta flakes have little bloodworms in them so it's varied, and I skip one day of feeding (well, feed them a pea that day). They also get treats (bloodwroms) once a week.

I use attisons betta pro, they never turn it down. A fast day is recommended as already suggested

Hikari Betta Bio Gold pellets and frozen/thawed bloodworms. Freeze-dried anything tends to constipate bettas so I avoid them like the plague.

2 pellets in the a.m. / 2-3 in the p.m. - and every other day - I substitue one feeding with 2-3 (depending on their size) frozen/thawed bloodworms.

Frozen/thawed bloodworms are NOT a "treat" though... they are highly nutritious and good for them... you can give it more often... just not the freeze-dried variety. Frozen/thawed bloodworms don't really constipate - but it's very easy to overfeed them (which can lead to constipation issues) b/c their sizes vary greatly... and b/c they love them so... it's hard to resist not giving them an extra piece or two. (But stand firm... you're not doing them any favours by giving in.)

I also substitute one feeding a week with some frozen/thawed pea to stave off any constipation issues and it seems to be work very well. Many advocate a fast one day a week - but I personally have a hard time with that and will only do it if they become ill.
