oh yes, did you notice on the commentary when massa was waiting at the end of the pit lane and the ferrari mechanics had to run down to him, apparently all the McLaren engineers were cheering them on as they ran past I'd have loved to see that!

The guy who sits behind me in work is a big ferrari fan, i've been insufferably smug to him today

anyway, back on topic, yes they will grow very quickly, unless you can guarantee a new larger tank within a month or two i would suggest you re-home them.

the problem is often spotting when the tank is inhibitng their growth, they will becomes stunted before you realise the tank is too small, by this point irreversible damage will have been done to their health, putting them into a big tank too late will improve their quality of life for their final months or years however you may well do damage which cannot be fixed and vastly shorten the lifespan and quality of life for these fish.

Please take them back to the shop.

When theyre bigger I'll take them back to the shop. Maybe they'll give me more money for them if they're bigger

you may still find you do permanent damage to them before you return them, also the shop is unlikely to give you more than you paid for them. some lfs's don't pay you for hand in's at all (after all they're doing you a favour) and if they do they'll only pay you what they could buy them from their suppliers for, usually no more than one third of the price they'd sell them for.

So if you paid £10 for them now, if you take them back immediately and tell the shop off for selling you unsuitable fish you may stand a chance of getting your £10 back, if you leave it a few months and then take them back I would think you'd be lucky to get £5 for them.

I dont understand, when you were advised not to get the sharks, that you went ahead and got them anyway, please seriously think about taking them back, you may like the look of them etc, but think about whats best for the fish.

You definitely won't get more store credit for bigger sharks compared to small ones. It's generally harder to get rid of bigger fish. The LFS won't be able to sell them on as easily when they're already huge.

I bought them before I had read any responses. The guys in both shops I went to said theyd be fine.

enjoy them up until the point that they die because you could not give them the care that they require?

i don't really think keeping a living creature in cruel conditions which then cause it to become extremley stressed out and die an early death is something we should just encourage people to accept because 'whats done is done'. This is a suitation that can easily be reversed without any harm to the animals, surely you can't really believe that is not the best course of action?

i dont think this guy...for all your going to tell him... is going to take advice from this website. He will do what he wants im pretty sure.... and he certainly isn't going to take those fish back. Its a shame...but thats what happens in fish keeping.

Why he is on here asking for advice though.... i dont know ?

I'm sorry, but if '#### happens' is your attitude to a fish's life then i think you're in the wrong hobby.

nope, not a vegetarian or a tree hugging hippy. I'm not a member of PETA or an environmental activist, I don't own a pair of sandals and my hair is not in dread locks.

I'm an aquarist and I care about the animals in my care, people ask my advice and I give it on the basis of what would be best for the fish in their care. This forum is full of people with the same opinions as me, if all you want is a pat on the back and to be told that what you're doing is great then you're in the wrong place. We will tell you what is best for the fish and challenge you when you do something that puts animals lives at risk.

Our general aim on this forum is to help people out to ensure they have a happy experience keeping fish adn to ensure that the fish in their care are in the best situation possible, what we're telling you is not just for the fish's benefit, you think it's gonna be fun when the fish outgrow the tank become deformed and die? You think it'll be fun when they're stressed and develop disease which spread around the whole tank killing off your other fish?

Our advice is for your benefit as well as the fishs.

I'm sorry, but if '#### happens' is your attitude to a fish's life then i think you're in the wrong hobby.

I will call the shop and make some enquiries in regard to sending them back in place of something else.

He said I can take them back, but he also said that theyll be fine in a 240 litre tank and theyll only grow to about 8 inches.......
