did everyone know that feather dusters can actually move there body/tube ? i had no idea until mine moved last night lol

Yea mine also do so as they can move to a more suited nearby location which they may prefer better than their current placement.

I even had one of mt dustet keep cutting off sections of its tube for whatever reason unitil in total it had cut it's tube down almost 3". I started getting worried that it was something trying to get at the worm inside but then when the tube was short enough as desired by the worm its left it there and happily comes out everyday in a cave under my rocks! ;)

wow thats kewl, i thought the tube had shrunken a bit but thought i must be imagining it lol. i moved it yesterday because it could fully open without touching a rock.. its grown so much so quickly. but when i woke up this morning it was in a total diffrent place lol i never thought they could move before. going to get some colored ones soon so should be kewl to watch

Tubeworms, or more specifically Featherduster worms, are annelid worms like the earthworm. While the two are only distantly related (earthworms being oligochaetes and tubeworms being polychaetes), one can definitely see the resemblance when the creature has exited the tube. They can crawl about by concraction and expansion, and do not need a tube of their own construct; rather, any 'bolthole' of suitable size is used. I had one that lived in clear airline tubing. Very neat to view.

oh wow i didnt know they could move out of the tube. i thoguht they only extended a little bit from it. would be awesome to see one in a clear pipe though lol

They are very beautiful but can be difficult to keep. Of note...they should be fed form OUTSIDE and BEHIND the duster. A common mistake is that people spray food in the center of the duster which is it's anus. SH

yeah I can see how that wouldn't work out for it.

lol good job i been feeding mine from the outside..i did feed it inside once and it just retracted so never did it again lol didnt know it was there A-hole though. wonder if it got constipated or slightly turned on :hyper:

LOL. i never knew that. but then again I always just spray/squirt the food above/near the featherduster and allow for them to filter it through. ;)
