Hi all,
Well, I love fishy books nearly as much as fishy tanks!
My favourite book at the moment is 'Beautiful L-Numbers' by the excellent Aqualog team, followed closely by the Baensch atlases.
Heres a rundown of all the books I can find since I moved house a month ago:

Baensch Aquarium Atlas 1
" " " 2
" " " index of photos
Aquarium Fishes of the World (Axlerod, Burgess, Pronek etc.)
Discus Aquaguide (Degen)
Freshwater Angelfishes (Axlerod, Burgess)
Aquarium Plants (Sweeney)
Catfish (Geis)
Beautiful L Numbers (Aqualog)
Guide to the healthy Aquarium (Carrington)
Fancy Goldfishes (Forget)
The Blue Planet (BBC)
Angelfish, A Pet Owners Manual (Forget aswell)
Stacks of Practical Fishkeeping, & Todays Fishkeper!

So vote for a favourite book here and post a review, I'd love to see some!
How about starting a forum for fish books, reviews and info on where to get em!!
If anyone wants more info on the books listed above, let me know...

Cant beat the baensch atlases IMO, some of the info is a little off but over all they are a excellent source of information about almost anyfish you are ever likely to find in a LFS and a lot that you wont.

The Concientious Aquarist by Robert Fenner

It is geared primarily towards marine tanks, but has tons of useful information that applies to freshwater (all things being equal, they're not that different anyway). Great stuff and some of the most beautiful pics I've seen.

Any idea which it this most recent Vol & Edition of Baensch Aquarium Atlas 1? Looking at amazon to buy & they have vol 3, 4, 1, & 5. I would buy 5 but there may be up to 8 by now. Or does it really matter which I get?

All the Baensch Vol. are different as in differnet fish, tho some are updated. I believe they are up to 8 now but 6, 7 and 8 are in German only. 5 is the index to the photos in the vol. 1-4 and is an extraordinary book. Very little info tho, just some symbols. Higly recommended tho.

It is actually a great little book, 'a pet owners manual' sounds a little misleading, it explains genetics, feeding, spawning and loads of other stuff. Its actually better than the Axlerod book IMHO, dont tell him that!! The Axlerod book is vrey detailed on the genetics and habitat of Angelfish, but not a whole lot about keping them.
