Fat Male Or Pregnant Female?

You should do what i do when i suspect babies might come:

Any ornimants you have you should dig down the gravel leaving small space for fry to go through. i do this with my moss ball and once 3 new born guppy fry survived under there for 1 week untill i released my older fry and put them in the hatchery

Ok, so I had a rough week here, I was losing 3 to for 5 fish a day! (enclosing Moma Molley in question R.I.P.) Everything I tried didn't work.. So I took a water sample to three store and they detected an excessive amount of ammonia and some other bad bacteria which I can't recall.. Gave me some medicine, salt and instructions and after I changed the water 80% 5 times I managed to stabilize the situation.. The 15 fish I have left are doing fine now and luckily some 25 Freys who were separated could be added soon. Life goes on, lets Hope it won't happen again...

Yup shes preggers. Just wait a little bit. Mollies and platies can hold onto their babies for months at a time. Then they give birth at the worst time possible -_____-

Well every fish is different but when my guppy and platy were in seperate breeding tanks I kept them in there at least 2 weeks as soon as they started getting big. The guppy did not mind being in there but the platy did not like it but nothing happened to it exept when the babies were born she went crazy and ate half of them, it does not make a difference how much you feed them.

I got so lucky, put the pregnant guppy in the hatching tank and 3 hours later she gave birth to about 30 little ones.. ;-)

Lucky you! I only had 8 fry. Just remember that as they are growing up a few may die :( Feed them fry food for now and after 1 week feed them crushed flakes.

Psst: the male 'bit' is in fact called a gonopodium :good:

How long must newborn guppies stay in the kids room before I put them with the oldies?

Well I would say at least 1.7cm 2cm is better but it depents how big the adults mouths are!
