can i put a few Farlowella in an African cichlid tank. I am putting in 2 yellow labs and 2 psuedotropheus zebra's. I haven't really picked out a catfish yet except for this weird Pleco. It is speckled Gray and speckled black in the middle. Looks awesome. They have had it and it hasn't grown for like a month. It is like 6" which is good.

If you are going to have an African tank you need to choose a catfish from the same lake as your cichlids such as synos

What size tank is this you're planning? You'll need to add a lot more then four cichlids to keep "peace" in there. African tanks do best overstocked (and overfiltered) in order to spread out the aggression -_-

Also, farlowella are best kept with peacefull fish only.

If they are kept with aggressive feeders, they can starve to death.

ok. I was just making absolute sure i couldn't keep anything else but synos because they never get them in at my LFs and they are expensive online. It is a 55 gallon tank.

Do syno eupterus need to be kept in groups? This seems really close to the Pictus's i wanted to get

i can't really overstock this one because i am going to put in a black ghost knife fish so i can't really overstock it with cichlids but i see what u mean. I think i'll get the Cichlids last so that i can see how many i have room for bcuz it all depends on how big the BGK gets.
