ok well my local fish shops have no fancy plecs. the fanciest plec around for miles (probably) is the gibbiceps and it doesnt really strike me as "fancy" so ive decided to go to online buying.
does anyone know a decent website that sells fancy plecs?
plzzzzzzzzzzzz :D

To save re-typing. Here's my reply from your other thread.

There is a pinned topic on UK mail order fish dealers - but it would help if you said which country you are from :good:

Of the list in that topic I've used Trimar (really good for catfish) - but do note that their fish come from a fairly low pH / soft water.
And Wholesale Tropicals is my own lfs and they always have a fabulous range of catfish - quite often some rare ones. If you ring them up and tell them what sort of catfish you have in mind (requirement wise and size), they can make some suggestions based on the stock they currently have. You can then write down those names and do your own research to check out the pictures and see which of those you like and suit your budget.

If you class Queen Arabesques as fancy I do try

www.tropicalfish4u.co.uk

It is a bit pricey £18 for 2-3" and you have to spend £25, I got some New spectrum food for my rams. However, she arrived and is bloody stunning. I floated her for a long time as the water in the bag had cooled, I also did lots of adding my water to the bag. Stress was minimal, they give 5 day guarantee too.
I can tell it is female, she has a white belly, the male has the patterning on belly as well.

Post some photos please ! :good:

I know what they look like ;) I wanted to see what yours looks like :good:

It's always nice to see what you can get from mail order.

Sorry, have been trying to get photo's, she sits there right at the front of the tank, I have a sand area there for my rams, I get the camera and she scoots away so quick that if you blinked you would miss it.

As soon as I get one I will post it.

 plecs are not the easiest to take photos of I totally agree !

Look forward to see some of yours if you get the chance / lucky :good:

I bought from them, I did not take any notice of their info as I looked at probably 100 sites before deciding what plec I wanted. Would you trust what your local LFS said????

What they are good for though is good quality fish, with decent service.

I am extremely happy with Queeny, QA L260.

I'd choose Trimar over them any day. They get their info right, their back up is great, and they're one hell of a lot cheaper ;)

Calling a common a clown plec, what were they thinking? LOL You might not have taken notice of their info, but other folks will - and if that info is wrong, their business aint going to get a very good rep. Especially when folks start wanting to return their 12" "clown suckers"

They've had common plecs listed wrongly since they started. I emailed them to correct their info on commons but never got a reply, so I don't think they're that bothered about the misinformation.

As for whether a Royal can live with a common, did you not find that out on the "hundreds" of sites you researched before buying? :hey:

Yes they can live together, but your Royal will need a strictly vegetarian diet whereas the common is an omnivore, so it's not easy. We manage it (just) with our gibby and Royal because we've put the gibby on a veggie diet too - that's because while they are an omnivore they can do very well on a vegetarian diet. I'm not sure if the same can be said for common plecs?

As for the behaviour side of things, you'll have to wait and see, as commons are known to be bullies with other plecs. Same was said about gibbies though and De Niro and our Royal get on really well. Trial and error really.

Edited to add: What you definitely *will* need for the two together is a massive tank and supreme external filtration (FX5 for example).
