So I was doing the typical morning feeding and I was feeding my girls and introducing my new female at the same time forgetting I had the food in my hand open, next thing I know over half the food is in my tank I'm running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to get it out and my fish are going crazy

Any one have this happen to them before or some thing similar

Oh man. Dinner Buffet. Does it count if I spilled half a container on the carpet?

Yes, I have, lol. My husband occasionally feeds my girl bettas if I've left for school early and he's slept in, and he is notorious for leaving the lid open. I'll go to put a dash of pellets into the tank and end up with a million pellets in the aquarium. For me, I just grab a net, scoop out what I can, let the bettas pig out (which they have no problem with, trust me, lol), and gravel vac what falls to the aquarium floor. The first time it happened, I cried because I thought my bettas were going to explode from eating too much. Now it's just one of those things I should be prepared for! I will say I've gotten better about checking the lid on the food container before going to sprinkle pellets into the tank.

I've never done it myself, but it happens to a lot of people!

Put a small amount of food in your hand, and then go to the tank!

I've knocked a container on the floor once, that's about it :p

I had my cats destroy a pot of food while i've been out,

I tip some food into the lid and pour thatinto the tank.

I once let my 5 year old sister feed my fish whilst my back was turned. Never again...

My dog stole and ate a whole, brand new tub of very expensive New Life Spectrum granules; the fish never even got a taste!

I am so glad there's only me in charge of feeding my fish, though that might change soon when I get to look after my friends' puppy, so will make sure the fish food is well out of reach

Hannahbear, scoop out what you can and I bet you will have only over fed by maybe 50%. If you skip feeding the next day the fish will search out what they can find which will get you close to no problem at all. I hope this helps put your mind at ease.
