OK. Here's the situation. I currently have a 90 gallon with a red devil, jack dempsey, pleco, convict, and columbian pike... tank is great and they get along decent enough... I love it, but I've got this 55 sitting there... I want to fil it with something, but what?

I don't want more of what I already have. I don't want goldfish, I like them, but I've been down that road already. Maybe schooling fish? I dunno what to put in it. Any ideas? Get me thinking! lol

if anyone's interested, I have video on my page of my fish so you can se what I currently have, and what I might be into. There's so many options...

Every time this question comes up I have to say Discus. The most colorful freshwater schooling fish you will find. The only downside is they require a little more work, especially if young.

You could do a nice planted community tank.. but I'd do it with more interesting fish than the regular old guppies and mollies :) I'd suggest all different types of barbs (tiger, albino tiger, green tiger.. hey, I like tigers!), corys for bottom dwelling, maybe some different types of shrimp (cherry, bumblebee, or you could even experiment with giant filter shrimp!), apple snails. Definitely add some driftwood for your bottom dwellers to hang out on. I also have a school of flame von rio tetras, they're really pretty. Or you could do some blood red parrots :)

i had snails before, they kept crawling out of the tank...How many full grown cichlids do you think I could fit in the 55? I don't want to have to upgrade it later since I've already upgraded for some of my fish to the 90 gal and my wife doesn't want anymore tanks.

Haha that is so weird, I've never had a snail crawl out of the tank! It really depends on the type of cichlid you get.. I have 3 blood red parrots in a 55 right now and they are a little bit cramped. As far as smaller cichlids, I'll suggest the amazing looking jewel cichlids. http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/cichlid/jewel.php

As said above, which Cichlids are you thinking of? Discus are Cichlids :hey:

I have no clue. That's the problem. Just trying to get a whole bunch of options so in a few weeks when I get everything set up and figure out where the tank is gonna go, I'll know what to go look for instead of searching later...
