Im so sorry its me again,

I am looking at possibly getting an external filter for my 40ltr tank is there any that will do a tank that small? or am i better to just keep the internal one?

Thanks

thanks will one really make a difference on a tank that small or am i just as well to keep the internal?

time for me to look stupid again... lol

i was told that they were better than internal filters, and that they would keep the water cleaner

externals are easier to maintain (no messing around in the tank to clean them) and generally offer more media storage and versatility. For those reasons they are 'better'.

However, they don't keep the water any cleaner than an internal if the two are like-for-like in terms of flow rate and media capacity. But even the Fluval 106 is likely to be an upgrade over whatever internal you currently use.....just make sure the flow rate of whatever you choose doesn't turn your tank into a whirlpool.

I use the Hydor Prime 10 on my 35 litre and it does a fantastic job. I really hate having equipment in the tank so that was my reason for getting it. The tank isn't a whirlpool either

They will turn over more water than an internal, they have more space for media & they require much less cleaning and maintenance.  For a 10 gallon though?  I don't it's worth it, just my opinion.
