Have a look at the Fluval 05 series.

cheers, they look good but my current internal is a fluval and im not that impressed are there externals better?
thanks

I have read threads on here about the fluval internals having flow/blockage issues. I use the fluval 205/305's and have had no probems. the only bit of advice to give on the 05's is to keep the cannisters head o-ring lubricated, this will prevent it from drying up and cracking.

Skins.

thanks, i will go to my LFS in abit and have a look what would you say is a good price £55?
Lloyd

EDIT: its the 105 :D

May get it cheaper online

Just had a look on ebay, where you can get the 205 for nearly the same price.
Heres the link:

i have a eheim 2224 and a tetratec ex 600 (which i brought as a leaking pump, which i have now modified) running on my comunity tank. i would say that that the eheim is a great pump but the tetratec has more flow to it.

You really cannot go wrong with the fluval 05 series. They are great, easy to set up, easy to prime, not much need for cleaning out compared to the internals, pretty much silent. The only 1 problem is the rim drying up and making it leak from the top. This is easily verifyed by just smearing a little bit of vasseline on the seal every time its cleaned to make sure it seals nicley again.

basically it means filling the filter canister with water for the first time. Once it's all set up you need to manually pump water into it and get all the air out. There is a small handle on the 05 series that allows you to do this. About 30seconds of pumping and it's ready to be switched on.
