Hello All,

I am in need of another external filter as I have been allowed by the bank manager (wife) to spend some money. I have a Rio 240 tank which currently has a aqua one 750 on it with two internal filters. I want to ditch the two internals and get a external so need a minimum filter that will do 130l. Ideally I am after a Fluval 205 or eheim but am open to any other suggestions.

I have a budget of about £40 but could spend more. I have seen some on eBay but I missed them.

Please could you email me on [email protected].

I can collect so long as not too far. I am based in Cambridgeshire but for the next three days I am in Bradford so let me know.

Tim.

i think on a 240L you will need more than a fluval 205. this filter is suggested for aquariums up to 200L, its turnover is only 680L p/h giving you a turn over of less than x3 on your tank after adding the media inside and thats being generous i think.
an eheim 2217 will be a better choice as eheim flow rates are pretty much as they say even with media added so you would get 790L p/h.
with externals its best to buy the biggest more powerfull one you can for increased water turn over in the tank and maximum media storage. also if you upgrade the tank at any point you wont have to upgrade the filters too :good:
you can never have enough filtration on a tank, i have a 240L and run a rena xp3 and a fluval fx5 on it..... just make sure the flow in the tank isnt too strong for the fish by adjusting the flow rate slightly or aiming it out of the way if poss :good:

i might have a spare Aqua One Aquis CF1000 if your interested?

im near leicester so you could collect on your way home from bradford if you wanted.... :good:

I will be keeping the existing external filter. Just want to get rid of the internals. I'm interested in your filter, how much do you want for it? Does it come with all pipes and any media?

Collection is not a problem as your not far and could do it on the way home.

Let me know,

Tim
