no complaints.

Thanks for the input all - I decided to bite the bullet and order the APS 2000EF.
I'll let you know how it goes.. my first external filter :D!

Hmmm to be honest.. I think i've made a mistake!
Installed the filter tonight and it just seems way too powerful for my tank, creating a huge current across the water surface..

used a spray bar? tried aiming it towards the glass a little?

as long as the fish you have like a good amount of flow, it should be ok? :)

no valves on the output tube to slow it down?

Well the spray bar supplised is abysmal, the pressure simply just pops the connection off, I've already e-mailed them about that, as I think they either supplied me with a wrong connection piece, or forgot to put one in.
Currently the output is in the water, with a right angle bend sending the water along down the backside of the tank.
I guess I'll see how it goes, just seems a huge change from my exsisting filter, flow wise.

My Spray bar caps do that, just use your noggin and think of a method you can use to keep them in place, me, i shove a piece of plastic between the cap and the tube so its a tighter fit, does the job. No taps/valves then?

I'll have a look at these tetratec's in the morning then, definitely sounding positive.
Currently I'm thinking towards the All Pond Solutions though, due the great review it had in the latest PFK mag, and the 15% voucher code online.

I used the code to buy my first tank from APS- I saved about £50.00, definately not to be sniffed at! :good:

Well I've e-mailed them, hopefully they'll be shipping out my missing parts.
One other question.. the inlet pipe has a "Surface skimmer", as a t-joint, what purpose is it meant to serve? as it sits about 2 inches below my water surface, and there a little piece of piping to fit on to it, but it just floats off.. lol.

You get what you pay for...

I didn't use the skimmer thing. I found the pipework ok, but it was a little flimsy and didn't seem to fit together quite right. I've got shut of the spraybar now and just use the elbow joint.

Minnnnt, on your APS model did you have like a U shape going from the outletpipe to the spray bar? As that seems to be the only way to get mine fitting together, and the U Shape just seems flimsy and pointless, as in why wouldnt it just be a right angle from outlet to spray bar.
Like this "Diagram" (if you can call it that, I'm no artist ;))

Oh mate, that drawing is excellent! :D I love it!

No it didn't, mine went together with just one right angled elbow piece and straight into the spraybar. (that i have now took off to increase the flow)
