External Filter Question?

So i noticed that my 70l Tank Filter has given up. Nothing at all on the sponges, and after testing the readings were all bad So as a temporary mesure ive placed a mature sponge air driven filter in there, now the readings after an hour were back to normal. But now the question is, what filter do I buy?

Its a Communtity 70liter tank with: 2x Leopard Danio, 3 Lemon Tetra, 4 Neon Tetra, 3 Blue Platys and 2 Albino Corys.

But to run all 3 tanks off it, how would i go about running 3 inlets and 3 outlets off it?

quite simply you cant one inlet one outlet the only way your goig to get three outlets is if you buy two syphons and two outlet nozels extra (a pair is included in the pack) and a long hose x2 and some Tpeices (hunt around diy stores in plumbing section with the pipe to size them up) and have all tanks side by side.

bear in mind if one tank gets a disease or bacterial infection or fungus it will pass to all three!! and as the water flows through the pipe tank 2 will have a medium output and the third will have a week output of filtered water.


then you have to think about medicating as your not useing RD (recommended dose) as you have to medicate all three.

you can make a sump for fresh water under the same principal as marine. pvc piping, a tank (large one), bulkhead, sponge's filter, tubing, powerhead for return flow, acrylic sheet for sump partitioning of different filtration stages get a diamond edge glass cutting drill bit, some plumbers putty and water for cutting hole for bulk head or take to a glazier to do it. either way running on filtartion system for three tanks is asking for trouble if anything goes wrong

So it would be just as easy to keep each tank within its own, and just get another internal filter. Didnt think about what you said though, Cheers mate
