External Filter Advice Please

looking to buy a external filter for my 220 litre tank, but only have about £60 to £70 to play with. any ideas and recomendations would be apprieceated

I love these filters, they are great, I have the larger ones. Price wise you cannot beat them.

what are they like to get spares for should anything go wrong, also do you have to use their filter media or can you use any of the other make media ceramic rings, carbon etc.

All pond solutions are a great shout. I've recently purchased 2 of their filters for my 240L. I snapped a part whilst setting one of them up, which they replaced very quickly and for no extra cost after I emailed them. Although, not entirely sure, I would say it wouldnt be too hard sourcing extra parts if you were to email them. They were extremely helpful and showed a willingness to answer any other questions I had.

In terms of filter media I'm sure you could use other meida instead/as well as from the APS one, however I haven't bothered as you get the APS filter media included with the filter (bio-balls, ceramic rings, and carbon as well as some sponges).

Plus, for the few days that my filter has been opeational I am very pleased with the product. Nice quiet filter at a fraction of the price of some of the other externals on the market.

I wouldnt hesitate to use them again, and I know many others on this site have posted positive comments regarding this "up and coming" brand.

Yep, another APS fan here too! Just remember to fit the sleeve for the UV light, even if you're not going to use it, as they leak if you don't!
Oh, and the handles for the media baskets are a bit rubbish, but they're honestly really minor points. I've upgraded all my tanks to these filters now and am really happy with them.

with full respect for the allpond product. could i suggest a eheim 2224 or 2226. both can be bought for the price range you have, and have the advantage of spares being held in your local LFS. true they have no UV, but then that's usless anyway.

also, currently there is the hydor prime 30 (on fleabay for £47). its self priming, is very reliable but even so has cheap spares.
