is it possible as it will in theory be the same as various rockpools around the UK subject to different weather and temperature patterns?

Also how long can ready mixed salt RO water be left stored for providing it's in a cold dark place?

Cheers

Ok guys if not the first question then at least the 2nd one!

Cheers

I rekon with the coldwater tank you could just use the sea water as its free and imo it should be ok outside as it is no different to the sea.

it's an interesting concept, except the saltwater in a rockpool is renewed twice daily and rainwater would affect it if it were open topped, and what would happen in the winter

Good point guys cheers!

It was just a thought really as I could see it working but never thought about winters tbh.

What about the 2nd question then?

Cheers

Open-topped or sealed? If bottled up, it can last a few weeks easily with no tweaks. Open-topped will evaporate and might need adjustment with RO and an air bubbler dropped in a while before use to make sure pH and sg are where they belong (might need the air for closed-top too sometimes), but I have stored it just as long that way too with no troubles. The main issue I've run into is that if you leave it too long without having water in/out of the container or some equivalent kind of cleaning going on, you may come back to find that the container has been busy establishing its own ecosystem lol.

Cheers Donya! It's in a sealed container and will be stored for about a week or so before its used for my next wc.
I tested the water today and everything checks out ok but is it worth me testing it again before I use it or can I save my salifert tests for another day? lol

I wouldn't test much on it. I just do pH and sg if it's been sitting for a while. If the pH has gone totally out of whack, then KH might be worth looking at if dropping an air bubbler in for an hour or two doesn't resolve the issue.

Thanks! I've got a spare air pump so i might just drop a line in to give it some movement!
