The snails started coming out again due to me feeding the fish. I make sure I give extra chunks specially for the snails. But... I saw my snails doing this... I thought this was a two snails job

Many times, snails will graze upon other snail's shells, good stuff grows on the shells, just like on any surface of a tank...and, they can't clean their OWN shells, so a win-win situation

My BRH snails do this all the time. It's a great way for them to get hard algae, because it grows readily on snails shells.

There are a couple of snail genus which are commonly called pest snails, pond snails, bladder snails, and tadpole snails. Both genuses have several species. It doesn't really matter which species they are as they all arrive on plants and multiply fast. Classed as Physids and Limnaeids, the only different is the way the shell curls.
