I was wondering if anyone could give me any ideas for a biology project using bettas?
The guidelines are :
1. not to torture the animal that is being used for the project
2. to prove 3 hypothesis(sp?) bout the projec
3. have results before the deadline(middle of march)
4. can't be something that has already been proven

If anyone has any ideas plese let me know.

You could do the same project I did in the 7th grade with my black widow tetras, I had about 4 black widow tetras and what you do is (well with bettas) is to count how many times they open and close their mouth in a minute using a stop watch then raise the temp from 76 to 78 then do it again and raise the temp and repeat the process to the temp is about 84 and take some pictures of you doing it and pics of the fish and you got your self a project.

but wouldn't messing with their water temp stress them out and potentially cause them harm?

I didn't mean like start at 76 and immediatly raise it up to 78 but go up 1 degree an hour.

Thanks for the idea. The only thing is that it has to be something that hasn't been done and something a little more complex. It's a college level biology class and my prefessor is like a freakin genious so I kinda have to impress him a little.

Any more ideas anyone?
