I imagine the answers i get to this question is going to vary according to the lfs in question and your relationship with them, but I'm wondering if its worth raising a lot of guppy fry or if its better to limit their breeding. I have a fry tank set up at the moment with about 30 fry, and inevitably there will be more to come!

What can i expect to get for any excess fry if i offer them to a shop? Is there any value in them, considering the ease and frequency of which they breed? I'm not after much, just the odd bit of food or plant, maybe even the occasional fish.

Oh, and how old before shops will take them?

Use then to get your self some quality food like "tetra pro" or live foods.

Most shop will not trade them for money.

all the ones around me buy them for $0.20 ea

My local lfs will take them, but not for money. I still think its cool to have little babies that I raised going off to new homes though. Too bad all my fry have been eaten, but my platy is just starting pregnant, so we'll see how that goes...
