Erm, Oh Bother

My Normans Lampeyes get along absolutely fine with everything in my tank - tetras, gouramis, cories, etc. Nothing to worry about here. Wish I could get them for 85p though!

that still leaves the isuue of the lone pearl danio

but it doesnt really, he is sociallising with other DANIO's

Zebra danio - danio rerio
Leopard danio - danio rerio v. frankei
Pearl danio - danio albolineatus

They are different species.

He's socialising with the in the same way that a black neon tetra might shoal with a group of green neon tetras, or a peppered cory might school with a bronze. They are different species but there is safety in numbers.

If you're happy with that, that's fine, but it's perfectly reasonable of Lloyd to point it out.

yes, i know they are different species, and i am fine with lloyd pointing it out, but to my eye, they are all really the same shape and from the same genus, and they are danio's anyway be they zebras, pearls or leopards...

Wouldn't it make a bit more sense to add more pearls rather than leopards, if they all look the same to you but will benefit your fish?

it doent mean anything if human beings collectively no them as danio's.

Its just advice its down to you if you will take it or not. at the end of the days its your fishes life you are ruining but to be honest i dont think your are an expert in danio body language so your probably not the best person to judge if they are socialising

i think i would count sociallising as swimming alongside them and maintaing a loose group with them, the only reason i got zebras is because the pearls they has were twice the size of my lil' guy ATM

Well they'd grow soon enough :) is your tank and your danios, but if they all look and act the same to you, it might be worth considering having at least a few of each kind you have, keeping the fish happy and making no difference to you.

thats what i'm doing... next week i'll probably get another zebra danio and see if i can find any small pearls to join her...
