Today I purchased a single 36W power compact system for a number of different little bits and pieces I am trying out. At present it sits above a 3-4g tank housing a piece of cured rock and a single humbug damsel. The tank dimensions are 9.5 inches cubed and I was windering if that is enough light to keep acropora, encrusting montipora, stylophora etc. the SPS clan. The flow is approximately 40x pretty turbulant; a wave deflect is being used to create more variability to the flow. I personally would think this is enough light but just wanted to check.

Well the tank is shallow so that'll help you and because of that shallowness, it'll probably work. You probably won't get the best colors out of them and they likely won't grow like weeds, but they'll do OK under that light.

Thanks Ski. It is either the acro tank or breed clowns.... emmm I really want to do both but don't have the money or space. I think the acro tank will take less space and possibly less money. I suppose I could do the acro tank now and try to breed the clowns when they are older (and I should have more cash because I'll be qualified Woo hoo)
You know the tank is really quite bright; the damsel's pectoral fins have a deep yet almost fluorescent tint to them which is really nice.
