i saw these at one of my lps a while back and only just started thinking about getting some. I have any empty 10 gallon so im looking to get some of these and maybe something else. im not sure if there were females there or not. ive been doing a bit of research on them but i wanted to hear from some people who do or have kept them.. anything i should know? ive never had guppies.

I hear they are very similar to guppies and can hybridize with guppies. I am very interested in them and can find none in local fish shops around here!!!

Please post pictures if you get any...

thanks for the comments guys..
im sure someone on here has them

i have had endler's and they are exactly like gupies except maybe a little smaller, if u do get some for your ten gallon dont get anything else unless u choose to have only males, these little fish seem to reproduce even faster then guppies will.

A few things you may want to know........

They are very similar to wild guppies in appearance.Females looks just like guppy females, too.
Now,to an untrained eye they look the same, but if you pay some attention, all males look alike in their body coloration and paterns, unlike guppys which are all different.
Also,a wild guppy doesn't have the bright colors that a endler does show.
One of the problems you might run into is the lack of any females.Breeders do not sell them. For these you might have to go on line and get them.
Why you ask.....Well,they are virtually extinct in the wild, and breeders who have them won't part from the females,so they can regulate the price and rarety of these gorgeous fish.Like they told you before, they will breed with any strain of guppies,so try to keep them apart.

ok so i got 3 males, and your right about the females. the store said that u could not get them and noone would sell them. they are quite cute though and i would like to get some females somehow although im reluctant to buy over the net..

these little guys sure are hard to photograph, ine if them is really cool though. has really bright colours and its top fin sticks up. ill keep trying to get pics.

anyone know how i could get females? i cant find anything in australia..

well if u want to breed them :D just get a female guppy my female guppy and male endler had some babies (fry) and the females look like there mom and all of the males except 3 look like endlers :) .the other 3 look like guppies they have the pretty colours :p going up them 1 of them (my favourite  ) has a redy coloured tale :) and then he has different shades of orange and green going all the way up his body :p .

Airli,if you really want endlers you gotta get females through the web,if not you end up with female guppies, and eventually the fry ends up looking like wild guppies, which I don't think its what you like.

Don't worry about the web,I've got many fish including albino guppies which are way more delicate than any female endler throu one of those sites(Aquabid).

Breeding endlers with guppies or other species create hybrids. Endlers are probably extinct in the wild, so the strains in the hobby are all that is left. If you do cross breed some, please keep them to yourself/do not sell them, as they may be mistaken for 'true' or 'pure' endlers.

i just bought 5 baby fry for 6 bux!! and 5 bux shipping!
