I see Endlers being recommended a lot. I have never heard of these fish. I see the males are very colorful. Are they a schooling fish and do males do well together? I'm not even sure if my local fish place has them, but I would love to find a colorful small fish instead of neons that don't seem all that hardy. My husband wants color in the tank. To add, I have never had livebearers before.

Great little fish for new starters imo. Males are small and females larger, don't school but will explore the whole of the tank and only livebearer I know that don't seem to enjoy eating their kids. Be warned if there isn't anything in the tank to eat the live young then you can get overcrowded very quickly.

Just noticed on the link it seems to concentrate on the male. Females are similar to female guppys size wise just without any colour.

I'm not very interested in females. I really don't want fry unless it just ends up as food for the other fish, and they aren't colorful. I would just be interested in 5 or 6 of the males unless they don't do well together. I currently have a bala and catfish. Looking for some color for a smaller tank.

Endlers are fantastic for a smaller tank especially the males :good: , just a pity when you find out that the bala and catfish (species dependant) aren't...

I know the bala and catfish aren't for a small tank. They are young and I am upgrading to a large tank in a few months.

Endlers are great fun, they don't school but they do 'play' together, their posturing and flaring up their little fins is so cute :)
