Long story short: LFS has Endler's, which I've never even seen in person. They're adorable, the cutest little things I've ever seen in my life. I've got a male betta in a 10g (U.S.), along with a tiny nerite snail. I never considered tank mates for him, but the Endler's make me wonder. So, bad idea? Worst idea ever?

Male Endlers are acutally some of the few fish that are compatible with bettas. Since the betta is the only fish in there, you could squeeze in 5-6 endlers as long as you keep up with water changes

Yay!!! Thanks!

Make sure you get males though, since endlers don't tend to eat their young and bettas can't be relied on for population control(well mine anyway - he was having a tug of war over a flake with a fry a couple of days old lol), you soon end up with quite a few more.

I know it sounds rather silly, but I'm SO excited to get Endler's. In the last two years, I've thought about buying them online at least a dozen times, but I always talked myself out of it. Clearly, this is a sign, lol. Those were brought into the LFS specially for me.

I would love to post a photo, but my HM male promptly disappeared into an ornament the moment I added the first Endler. He is the strangest, most timid fish I've come across in my entire life! I believe he's afraid of his own shadow. I've had issues with his anxiety recently, and I had considered returning him to his original, smaller tank. I thought a few tank mates might inspire him to roam about, rather than lurking in an ornament and refusing to come out. As far as potential tank mates, Endler's certainly aren't intimidating. I'll leave him be for now, but if he seems to be in poor spirits, I'll have to rearrange tanks to find a more suitable housing situation for everyone.

These are my new little guys, though:
