Empty 12 Gallon Fish Tank

I'm keeping 6 of them ;)

Just have 2 now because I inherited them. Planning on 6 :good:

Looks like a 12 gallon eclipse. I've got to agree with Onidrase, except for the licorice gouramis, I would recommend sparkling gouramis as they are much harder.

Personally, I'm not a fan of fish keepers posting their tank size in gallons, this is an international forum, where "imperial" and "US" gallons are often quoted without specifying which they are using. On the other hand, litres are universal, but 1 US gallon is equal to 4l, whereas an imperial gallon is equal to 4.8 litres. On small tanks like the one in question in this thread, this makes the world of difference, 48l or ~58l...

Relatively very few fish are suitable for such small tanks, they not only need to be sedate fish (like Bettas), but the stocking needs to be very conservative (eg. a Betta with 6 Kuhli Loaches in a 48l) because a small volume of water can go toxic very quickly.

As for the 20g stocking, I cannot believe a fully grown Synodontis euptera (Featherfin catfish) and possibly the mystery plec are suitable, while social fish are not being kept in high enough numbers and two gourami is a dangerous gamble (one will often bully the other, especially if both are males).

Agreed entirely with the confusion caused by quoting gallons, but your conversion to litres is using the wrong figures.
1 US gallon = 3.79 litres
1 IMP gallon = 4.55 litres

So the difference could be 45l or 55l
