I have some true emperor tetras. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the ones with blue eyes and the ones with green eyes are male and female? or can you only tell by the body being lighter on females and males having the tail extension?

any help would be good.

cheers

The male will have a trident shaped tail (3 points) the middle point is a continuation of the blackline that runs down the side of the body. Females do not have this middle point, and have what most people would consider to be a regular shaped fish tail (kind of U-shaped).
As regards to eye colour i don't think that has anything to do with sexing them.

Chris.

When I researched them - before not buying them! :p - I read that it was the females who had slightly greener eyes although, apparently, it's not easy to tell the difference. Mind you, the fin difference that Chris described may be difficult to detect in young fish.
