Emperor Tetra With Pop Eye

Ok, maybe I shouldnt have had a go at you Wilder accussing you of spamming emergencies, but its proof that you need to know about what you are posting before you post and suggesting the wrong med is not a good idea.... Posting a correct link is ok, but its much better to have first hand experience on what you are posting about as the web is like the papers, you can't beleive all you read....
Also the way the laws are changing with regards to meds and advice, its going to be illegal to advise using meds unless you are qualified to do so

Which is true by the way. Soon no one will be able to advise anyone on the type of medications needed to treat a fish, so bye bye emergency room.
I wonder if that includes Pet stores that sell the meds? do you know Paul?

They have changed the wording on the waterlife link as they said it treated popeye and dropsy.

I would think it would include them as people in shops are no more qualified than me or you (assuming your not a vet ;) ).
i wouldn't have thought they would tighten the laws that much, that would just be totally over the top :hyper:

No im not a vet though I do have an interest in fish disease.
Just have to wait and see what exactly they say i suppose.

As far as meds go, i think its fair enough to recommend a type of med needed rather the brand names as then you arent leading people to one particular brand.

Phew! I didn't realise my innocent little post would turn into World War Three! My fish are listed in my profile (just recently discovered how to that... ) As well as a pair of Emperor tetras I have 4 silver-tips, 2 glowlights, 2 SAEs, 3 yo-yo loaches, an albino bristlenose and 2 amano shrimp in a 100l Juwel tank that's been up and running for about 4 and half years.

Thanks for your suggestions anyway. I think it was Interpet No 9 I used but not sure as I threw the bottle away as it didn't seem to be doing anything. Maybe I didn't use it for long enough/not the right dose or something. The yo-yo loaches are still young and I didn't want to use anything that would harm them or the shrimp or mess up the filter. I've seen the article on the flippersandfins.net link. Couldn't find Maracyn-Two in my lfs and although said to be harmless to invertebrates and filters nothing about any risk to loaches mentioned.

Sorry got abit out of hand.
You won't get maracyn in the uk, but there is a med will get you some info.

Sorry forget it esha2000 any med that says it treat ntd not worth the time of day as there no cure, only false ntd.
There is a jbl med i've used it but it said it wipes the bacteria colony out in your filter but it never did with mine, but its not worth the risk to be honest, just going to cause more problems in the long run.
I would still try the myxazin though, if not go in again with the anti internal bacteria med by interpet.

Bloody hell what is the world coming to!

It really depends on the wording of the bill. Getting rid of any Emergency boards may be a bit on the extreme side but it could come to that if the legislation is tight enough.
Theres always ways around things so will just have to wait and see.

Probably be 20 years time the way things go in this country.
